Types of accomodation in the Stockholm archipelago

There are basically five types of accommodation in Stockholm archipelago:

  • Hotel
  • Guest
  • Cottage
  • Hostel
  • Camping

They are listed by price range, but it is clear that there is some overlap between the Category field, as a nice guest house can cost more than a simple hotel.

    Hotels

There are not many hotels in the Stockholm archipelago, and those that exist are often quite nice, that is expensive.

Secondly, there are some really classic hotel that Seglarhotellet in Sandhamn and the Grand Hotel in Saltsjöbaden, where royalty, chess players and trade bigwigs have set historical footprint.

Then we have some newer hotels, high profile, as the Sands Hotel and Sandhamn Skärgårdshotellet in Nynäshamn. They do not have the same tradition, but meets the modern approach to style and comfort.

    Guest

Fine archipelago boarding Svartsö Manor Guest House and Rastaborg on Ljusterö does not differ so much from the hotels, except that they are perhaps a bit more isolated (in Svartsö cases) and possibly have a bit less room. But the difference is probably the most historic.

In all cases it should be good and eat well on the pension offices. The old tradition to stay at the guest house all summer is not very common anymore. Instead, the individual nights or lyxhelger applicable nowadays.

Afternoon tea (ie afternoon), trerättermiddag and breakfast in beautiful surroundings is a successful concept, the very obvious reasons.

    Cabin Rentals

If you want to stay a bit longer in the archipelago, but the cost of shaving in height may be an idea to rent a cabin. Then, it is not certain that the house is really cheap, on some islands are cottages highly anticipated, and prices are market driven.

Living in self-catering cottage is understood in general, but on some islands can eat both lunch and dinner at the establishment, and have access to a small boat may have more restaurant docks to choose from (and hopefully a larder).

In return, holiday accommodation can provide great freedom. You can come and go as you want, you eat at your convenience, you may have its own rocks.

If it is important to you may be alone in and around the house should be kept in mind that there may be an owner in the vicinity. Perhaps you live in a garden shed at the sight and höravstånd from a house. Perhaps you live right on the bridge where the owners keep their boats and bathing her.

If you like company, it may be nice, if not, it is best to check up the matter in advance. And if you rent on an island without any service must be ensured that either resupply well in advance, or that there is no way to get to the store.

    Hostel

Hostels are perhaps the easiest and cheapest housing in the Stockholm archipelago . There are quite a few hostels, they are pretty cheap, and it is usually good to get a room.

Normally, it is applicable to self-catering hostels, plus that they themselves may bear bedding, towels and cleaning.

Most hostels have small rooms for 2-4 people. For some there is also the barracks housing remains as we classically associate with a hostel, and who is the cheapest accommodation in the archipelago except camping or boat.

Nevertheless, many hostels offer a bit more than that. It is perhaps a breakfast room, sometimes even a restaurant or pub in connection to vanrdrarhemmet, which Finnhamn and Utö.

Inns, guest houses, bed and breakfast

Other forms of accommodation in the roof can be found in guesthouses, inns and bed-and-breakfast. Prices and comfort levels vary from hotel class Grinda Inn at the hostel-style, but usually without offsets in the cleaning and bed-making.

    Camping

Camping is of course the cheapest accommodation in Stockholm archipelago . Everyman's right gives us the opportunity to set up a tent anywhere (with some important exceptions).

There are also some campsites, which Möja and Finnhamn. However, camping is impractical or even impossible in some other islands. On Sandhamn such as camping is simply not tiilåtet.

some other islands, which Gällnö, the landscape is characterized by agriculture and settlements, making it difficult to find a place for the tent where you do not disturb anyone and are not likely to be chased away by an angry farmer.

In general you should have realized that access rights do not apply within sight of humans, and that many residents of the archipelago is very hard on that principle. Surely after being disturbed countless times of happy walkers who really did not mean anything bad.

    Guest harbors and natural ports

No one has so many choices of accommodation to anyone who comes to the archipelago in the boat. There are a lot of marinas, but above all of course completely unlimited with natural harbors. Natural harbors can be found even on islands that no regular boats bound for, for example, the most rugged and distinctive in the outer archipelago.

We will not go on no details of the huge range of ports, but can only recall that the popular natural harbors are often just as difficult to fit in at as the most popular retirement-General.
